How do I make deposits?

Via BACS or CHAPS:

  • by BACS transfer, use the account number and sort code details printed on your paying-in book
  • by CHAPS transfer to your account in sterling quoting the following details, to the bank making the payment:
    -  Bank – Citibank, London
    -  Sort Code – 18 50 08
    -  Account Name – Investec Bank (UK) Limited
    -  Account Number - 00562785
    -  Reference – your Investec Bank (UK) Limited account name and number
  • We cannot accept cash deposits, such deposits will be returned with no responsibility on our part and at your expense

How do I pay in cheques?

UK cheques:

  • by sending sterling cheques drawn on any UK bank other than Investec Bank (UK) Limited to the Bank with a completed paying-in-slip in the brown reply-paid envelope provided or other envelope provided by the Bank; or
  • by sending cheques drawn on any Investec Bank (UK) Limited account to the Bank with a completed paying-in slip in the white freepost envelope provided or other envelope provided by the Bank.

How long does it take to clear a cheque?

The ‘central clearing cycle’ (normally 3 working days) is the time taken for money paid from or into your account to be deducted or added. Payments may take longer through some financial institutions. Please call us for further details


    UK cheques:

  • deposits into an account made by cheques drawn on a UK bank will be available for withdrawal after five working days.

    BACS or CHAPS:

  • deposits into an account made by BACS are treated as available for withdrawal from the working day the funds are credited to the Account; and
  • deposits into an account made by CHAPS are treated as available for withdrawal from the working day the funds are credited to the account.

    Foreign currency payments:

  • foreign currency deposits by electronic transfer will be treated as available for withdrawal from the working day the funds are credited to the account; and
  • foreign currency deposits by cheques drawn on non-British banks, or in other currencies, will be treated as available for withdrawal on receipt of proceeds.

    Please note the following:

  • even if the amount of the cheque is shown in your available balance, the bank on which the cheque is drawn may still return it unpaid. When a cheque is ret
