Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) today announced that the new sponsor of the iconic Media Centre at Lord’s will be Investec, the international specialist banking and asset manager group. Investec has committed to a three-year sponsorship deal, through until the end of the 2009 Ashes Series in England. The agreement delivers an extensive package of rights including the naming of the building – the Investec Media Centre – corporate entertainment facilities and widespread branding at ‘The Home of Cricket’.

The Investec Media Centre was opened in 1999 and has won six industry awards, including the Stirling Prize, a prestigious annual award from the Royal Institute of British Architects. Designed by architects Future Systems, and constructed by ship builders, it is the world’s only single shell, all aluminium building. It stands fifteen metres above the picturesque pitch at Lord’s, spanning 42 metres between the Compton and Edrich Stands, and has accommodated international media for all major matches at Lord’s since it opened, including the 1999 ICC World Cup Final and Test Matches featuring every Test-playing nation in the world.

Keith Bradshaw, Secretary & Chief Executive of MCC, said:

“I am delighted that Investec has become the sponsor of the Media Centre, and look forward to developing a strategic partnership with the company which will benefit cricket for many years to come. The Investec Media Centre is a unique, award-winning building, which forms a striking part of the Lord’s landscape. It is important that we align ourselves with strong brands; we believe that we have done that with Investec.”

Raymond van Niekerk, Global Head of Marketing at Investec, said:

“I am most pleased to announce our sponsorship of the Investec Media Centre at Lord’s. This iconic Centre is an out of the ordinary structure that challenges convention, and together with the historic significance of Lord’s makes for a wonderful partnership with the Investec brand. We look forward to deepening our association with cricket, with Lord’s, and with MCC.”
