Kim Hillier

Chief Investment Officer and Joint Business Head

Kim is the Chief Investment Officer of Investec Private Bank and Joint-Head of the Private Bank Wealth Management Business. She has more than 25 years experience in global investment markets. She joined Investec in July 2001 from ABN AMRO Private Bank where she was Head of Investments and Deputy Head of the Private Bank for more than 5 years.

Prior to this she was Head of Portfolio Management for Credit Suisse Private Bank in London for 7 years and was responsible for asset allocation, investment process, product evaluation, specialist products and all dealing activities. Before this she was a Senior Commodity Trader at Lehman Bros. in London where she oversaw key global corporate accounts and several high profile hedge fund managers.

Until 1988 Kim worked in Bahrain, initially at Merrill Lynch as a registered representative for their high net worth clientele before being recruited by Gulf International Bank to initiate and co-manage a US Equity Desk focusing on stock index arbitrage and other equity derivative strategies for the business’ proprietary book as well as select ultra high net worth clientele.

She is a FSA-registered Investment Adviser in the UK and is also a registered representative of NASD/NYSE and the US National Commodity Exchanges.

 

Robert Gottlieb

Business Manager and Joint Business Head

Robert is the Joint Head of the Private Bank Wealth Management business and has been with the Investec Group since 1994. Robert has held a number of roles across the Trade Finance and Corporate Finance divisions, encompassing client acquisition, deal origination/structuring, risk management and various business management positions including joint head of the Private Bank in Cape Town.

As Joint-Head of the Private Bank’s European Investment Business, Robert’s primary focus is around overall business management, including strategic and operational planning and tactical implementation. He was transferred to Investec’s London office in October 2005 from Geneva, where he was responsible for integrating Investec's newly acquired Trust operations into the wider Investec Group. 

Robert has an accounting qualification and a law degree from the University of Cape Town as well as a postgraduate qualification in Treasury Management.

 

Eric Ebermeyer

Chief Investment Officer
Eric is Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Investec Private Bank. He has more than 17 years experience in global investment markets. He joined Investec in June 2009 from Iskander Multi-family Office where he was CIO.

Previously Eric worked for eight years at Fortis Group where he held a number of positions including, Chief Executive Officer of Fortis Multi Management (an asset management firm specialising in alternative investments), Global CIO of Fortis Private Banking, CIO of Fortis Asia, and CIO of Fortis Luxembourg.

Prior to this he spent three years as deputy head of wealth management at HBSC Republic in Luxembourg, and from 1992 to 1998, Eric worked as a proprietary trader as head of structured products for Sumitomo Bank and Banque Paribas, respectively.

Eric as a BSc in Applied Economics from FUCam and MSc in International Finance from IFCA in Belgium.

 

Oliver Betz-Fletcher

General Manager of Investec Bank (Switzerland) AG
Oliver joined Investec (Switzerland) AG in August 2007. As General Manager Oliver has been involved in the investment in and reporting on private equity, distressed debt and other specialised investments. Prior to joining Investec, Oliver spent 10 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as Business Unit Manager Private Banking. He holds a business degree (Diplom-Kaufmann from the Otto Beisheim School of Management (WHU), Germany).

  

Martine Shaw

Investment Practitioner

Martine is an Investment Practitioner with Investec Bank (Switzerland) AG located in Zurich. Martine has worked in Private Banking/Investment Management since 1996. She joined Investec’s Private Advisory team in Sydney in November 2000 and transferred to the London Private Bank in September 2002 as an Investment Specialist. Prior to joining Investec, Martine was employed by two international investment banks to manage ultra high net worth client relationships and provide financial and investment advice to ultra high net worth individuals and family groups. Martine is a member and co-chairperson of the Private Bank’s European Investment Forum. She was a FSA registered Investment Adviser in the UK and was also qualified in Australia.

Martine holds a Joint Masters of Economics and Econometrics from the University of Sydney and a Certificate in Advanced Financial Modelling in Portfolio Management from the New York Institute of Finance. She completed her undergraduate studies whilst on a tennis scholarship in the USA, receiving a Bachelor of Business (Economics) Magna Cum Laude, the Ohio Valley Conference Academic Medal of Honour and membership into various professional and academic honour societies.

 

Malcolm Osrin

Investment Practitioner

Malcolm joined Investec Private Bank (UK) in 2000 as an International Private Banker. He is responsible for providing investment advice to High Net Worth Non-UK domiciled individuals with particular expertise in advising offshore South African clientele. He is a FSA-registered Investment Adviser in the UK.  Prior to joining Investec, Malcolm was a Director of Trident Trust Company (UK) Limited for 4 years. His responsibilities there included providing consulting services to settlors and beneficiaries of offshore trusts.  Prior to that, Malcolm spent six years at Deloitte & Touche in London reaching the position of Senior Audit Manager.

Malcolm holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of Cape Town, thereafter qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and training at Arthur Andersen & Co in Cape Town.  He is a member and co-chairperson of the Private Bank’s European Investment Forum.

 

Jeffery Benjamin

Investment Practitioner / Head of Specialised Opportunities

Jeff has worked in Private Banking / Investment Management since 1995.  He joined Investec in 1999 as an Investment Practitioner.  Prior to joining Investec, Jeff was employed in Singapore by Credit Suisse Private Bank and then Merrill Lynch International Private Bank, to manage ultra high net worth client relationships and provide investment advice to client and family groups in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Hong Kong.  Jeff typically focuses on providing highly specialised and structured solutions via open architecture / third party platforms in the alternative investments arena to institutional and intermediary clients.  Jeff is a FSA-registered Investment Advisor in the UK, a registered representative of the NASD/NYSE and the US National Commodity Exchanges.  Jeff holds a Bachelors in Law (Honours) from the University of London.

 

Walter Steinberg

Investment Practitioner

Walter originally joined Investec in the Cape Town office in 1992, transferred to Geneva in 2002 and headed the Specialised lending team in London before managing the Swiss Finance Branch of a South African structured finance boutique from 2005 to 2007. Walter re-joined Investec Private Bank in early 2008. Prior to joining Investec Walter qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) with Arthur Andersen and specialised in Corporate Income Tax.

Walter has a B.Com (Honours) (Taxation) and LLM (Taxation) and is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant(UK). He specialises in Special Opportunities for the Wealth Management business and is located in Geneva.

 

Prisco de Pità

Private Banker

Prisco joined Investec Bank (Switzerland) in 2006 as a Private Banker in charge of promoting cash and near cash products. His primary focus is on providing banking services to financial intermediaries such as trust companies, independent wealth managers and family offices in the Geneva market. Prior to joining Investec, Prisco worked for 5 years as a Relationship Manager at Reuters. He was in charge of promoting Reuters financial and risk software to Blue Chip corporate treasurers as well as independent wealth managers . Prisco covered the French and Swiss markets where he was able to gain valuable experience in the treasury area. He has over 10 years experince in business development - mainly in the financial field. He holds a Bachelor Degree from EHL in Lausanne, Switzerland.

 

John McWeeney

Investment Practitioner

John joined Investec Ireland in September 2005 as a client relationship manager, and has assisted clients in participating in property, private equity and alternative investments. He has also worked in close conjunction with senior investment practitioners in all facets of client account management; portfolio design, monitoring, and analyses. Whilst studying at Dublin City University, he began an eight year career as a professional rugby player with Leinster rugby, representing Ireland at senior international level during that time. He graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Business Studies (Honours) degree. John is a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) in Ireland, a member of the institute of Bankers in Ireland and is currently undertaking the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) exams.

 

Mark Daly

Investment Practitioner

Mark has over 14 years experience in financial services, 10 years of which have been spent directly advising or managing investment portfolios on behalf of families, charities and institutions. Prior to working with Investec, Mark held similar roles in Anglo Irish Private Banking and Standard Life. He also spent 2 years with Investment Intelligence, a specialist investment consultant providing Charities, Credit Unions and Pension Trustee boards with portfolio construction and manager/fund selection advice. Before working in financial services Mark spent two years at UN headquarters in New York, where he worked in International Human Resources. Mark is a Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) in Ireland, a member of the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Ireland and a member of the Securities Institute in the UK. Mark holds a Masters degree in Investment and Treasury Management from Dublin City University and holds a BA in statistics from Trinity College Dublin.

 

Catherine Kirchmann

Investment Practitioner

Catherine recently joined Investec Private Bank as an Investment Practitioner. With over 7 years experience in the wealth and asset management industries, her focus will be on providing investment services to high net worth entrepreneurial individuals with a focus on South African clients.  Catherine joined Investec from Spencer House Capital Management where she was responsible for the firm’s business development. Prior to that, she was a Portfolio Director at GAM London Limited where she gained invaluable experience in managing a diversified, global portfolio of high net worth individuals, trusts and companies.

Catherine holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa); an LLB from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa); and the IIMR’s Investment Advice Certificate (UK). She is a qualified attorney, as well as a FSA registered Approved Person in the UK. Catherine is a member of the Investec European Investment Forum.

 

Shaun Lacey

Investment Practitioner

Shaun Lacey joined Investec as a Senior Private Banker in November 2001 with Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Limited and has over 25 years experience in Private Banking. He worked for NatWest PLC and subsequently joined Pierson, Heldring & Pierson (later MeesPierson) in 1986. He became a Director of MeesPierson Investment Management (CI) Limited in 1992. He later joined The Havelet Group, an independent financial services company, as Managing Director of Havelet Asset Mangement Limited, and was appointed a Director of Havelet Trust Company (International) Limited, now part of Equity Trust. Most recently Shaun was Executive Director of Trust and Corporate services at Leopold Joseph Private Bank in Guernsey.

Shaun graduated from the Southampton Institute in Business Studies and is a Fellow of the Securities Institute. He is also a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP), and the International Tax Planners Association, and holds the STEP Advanced Diploma in International Trust Management (Distinction). He has recently been appointed a member of the Financial Industry Policy and Advisory Group set up by the States of Guernsey to review investment business in the Island.

 

Brent Geater

Investment Practitioner

Brent joined Investec as a Product Specialist in early 2005 and lead and managed the development of Investec Private Bank’s product selection and diligence function. He has significant expertise in the assessment of traditional equity, fixed income and alternative investment strategies (including hedge fund, commodity, property, private equity and distressed debt). Brent now focuses on providing highly specialised investment opportunities to Investec’s ultra high net worth entrepreneurial client base. These opportunities include participations in proprietary Investec transactions, leveraged / structured solutions and exclusive access to a variety of institutional third party providers through Investec’s open-architecture offering.

Brent has over 10 years experience in financial services, five of which were spent in Investment Banking at CIBC World Markets and Svenska Handelsbanken as a corporate financier, specialising in international mergers and acquisitions. Prior to this Brent worked in global finance for ING Barings and as an accountant and consultant for Deloitte & Touche. Brent is qualified as both a Chartered Accountant CA (SA) and a Mechanical Engineer (BSc Eng. Mech). He is registered with the Financial Services Authority (FSA). Brent holds both a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and Accounting.

 

Eli Mizrahie

Investment Practitioner

Eli has worked in Private banking/Investment Management since 2004. He joined Investec as an Investment Practitioner, focusing on providing investment advice to ultra-high-net-worth clients and family groups in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Prior to joining Investec, Eli began his career with UBS in Boston, Massachusetts where he specialised in Financial Planning and Portfolio Management.

Eli holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a dual Major in Finance and Entrepreneurship (Magna Cum Laude) from Boston University. He is an Approved Person with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the United Kingdom, and was a Registered Representative of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) / National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), and US National Commodity Exchanges.

  

Philipp Schmahl

Investment Practitioner

Philipp is an Investment Practitioner with Investec Bank Switzerland located in Zurich. He joined Investec in June 2008. Prior to joining Investec, he was an Executive Director in the Private Wealth Management Department of Goldman Sachs’ Investment Management Division in Frankfurt and Zurich. Philipp began his professional career as a sales manager at EuroAsiatic Jaya PT in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he was responsible for marketing plants and machinery in the energy industry to clients in South-East Asian markets. He holds a BBA from the University of Miami, an MBA from Duke University and attained his CFA designation in 2004.

 

Andrew Summers

Product Specialist

Andrew joined Investec Private Bank as a Product Specialist in 2006.  Previously he worked for Goldman Sachs for ten years (in Frankfurt and then in London), the last four of which were spent with the Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) offshore funds product development team.  This team was responsible for the development and maintenance of the entire GSAM offshore fund range and developed products for institutional, third party and private clients.

Andrew graduated from Oxford University in 1996 with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.  He is a member of the UK SIP and recently completed Level III of the CFA Program.

 

Anthony Leatham

Product Specialist

Anthony took up the role of Product Specialist for the Wealth Management business in 2007, having been Compliance Adviser for the Private Bank since 2005 and supported the business through changes in FSA and European regulatory environment.  Prior to joining Investec, he worked for 5 years for Deloitte & Touche in London as a Consultant to the Financial Services sector.  Anthony's role in the team involves the identification, analysis, and monitoring of funds and fund managers which make up the Wealth Management Product Platform.

Anthony graduated from Edinburgh University in 2000 with a degree in German, History, Politics and Philosophy.  He is a member of the Securities Institute.
