Kruger Products Limited, Canada

Investec provided a financing at the corporate level to assist with the construction of the 101MW Port Alma wind farm in Ontario, Canada. The financing is structurally subordinated and reliant on distributions from the wind farm. The wind farm reached construction completion in October 2008.

Suez Energy International, DME Peaking IPP, South Africa

Investec was appointed as Lead Arranger by Suez Energy International for the DME Peaking Plant project. The project covers two liquid-fuelled fired open-cycle gas turbine power plants totalling approximately 1,000MW and is being bid out by the South African Department of Minerals and Energy for Construction completion in 2009.

Investec was a Lead Arranger on the refinancing of the 2,000MW Cahora Bassa hydro power plant in Mozambique. As a result of the transaction, the government of Mozambique increased its shareholding to 85%. Cahora Bassa has been fully refurbished and the project is underpinned by a long term PPA with Eskom of South Africa.

Investec was mandated to lead arrange a £150 million mezzanine loan facility for Thanet Offshore Wind Ltd, an offshore wind farm to be constructed off the coast of Kent. The project has since been sold to a third party. When built it will have a capacity of 300MW.

Greek Wind Co-development (BCI), Greece

Investec has co-invested into wind projects in Greece alongside BCI SA, a Greek developer. Investec has provided development and construction equity funding to a string of projects developed by BCI and jointly owned by BCI and Investec. The first project (24.5MW) is scheduled to reach commercial operation Q1 2009 and the next three projects totalling 50MW are scheduled to close in 2009.
