Banking activities

Balance Sheet Management is the face of Investec, the bankers bank. This team is responsible for raising wholesale deposits, managing liquidity and interest rate risk for the group

Project and Infrastructure Finance refers to the provision of debt facilities, including underwriting and equity raising, to projects secured primarily or solely against the cash flows such projects generate, typically with limited or no recourse to the corporate credit of the project sponsors. The focus is on healthcare, defense projects, transport and power in the infrastructure, power and industrial sectors.

Commodities and Resource Finance is active in the precious and base metals, minerals, oil, gas and mining services in both emerging and developed markets. Offering across the debt-equity spectrum the team offers:

Interest Rate Trading
The Interest Rate Trading Desk is an active market maker in all interest rate derivatives whilst offering clients innovative structuring capabilities. The desk comprises of the following areas:

• Government and certain parastatal bonds
• Interest rate options and repurchase agreements

Foreign Exchange Trading are Market makers in the spot, forward exchange, currency swaps and currency derivatives markets predominantly in ZAR and G7 currencies and certain emerging markets currencies.

Equity Derivatives are the Market makers in:

• Certain single stock options
• Equity structured products
• Futures index arbitrage
