Self-Invested Personal Pensions

Your flexible pension option

A SIPP gives you choice, flexibility and the opportunity to consolidate all of your pension plans.

  • Maximum flexibility in your retirement planning
It’s all about you. A self-invested personal pension is a popular investment wrapper similar to a standard personal pension, but much more flexible in terms of what investments you can choose.
  • Take control of your pension plans
If you’ve accumulated a number of pension arrangements over time, or want to build up a large fund as quickly as possible, you may find a SIPP the ideal choice.

Choosing a SIPP

  • What are the advantages of a SIPP?

SIPPs allow you to coordinate your investments, in order to focus your retirement goals. You can take control of your pension contributions, investment approach and other benefits and bring them all into one plan.
  • What can I invest in a SIPP?

You can hold a huge range of investment products in a SIPP, from stocks and shares, to unit trusts, open-ended investment companies (OEICs), investment trusts and commercial property.
  • Is a SIPP right for me?

This approach may be just right for you if:
    • You’re planning to put the maximum contribution into your pension fund, perhaps also carrying forward an unused allowance.
    • You want to take advantage of new rules about how you can access your pension pot.
  • How is my SIPP managed?

As the name suggests, SIPPs are self-invested. You can manage your own fund by switching your investments whenever you want to.
But we understand that this ‘do-it-yourself’ approach may not be for everyone. In fact, fewer than 30% of people we asked felt “very confident” that they had sufficient expertise. If you’re thinking about this type of personal pension, it’s important to get impartial financial advice.
