I set up the Edinburgh office of Williams de Broë, with many of my former colleagues, in 2008 (now Investec Wealth & Investment).
I originally worked in the oil industry until 1986, when I joined Alexander Laing & Cruikshank in their Edinburgh office. In 1990, I moved to Parsons Penny, which was one of the original firms that eventually became Gerrard Investment Management and latterly Barclays Wealth.
I went to Edinburgh University from 1972 to 1976, where I got my Bachelor of Commerce degree. I’m also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (Chartered FCSI).
Married with two children, I’m a keen and active squash player.
