I specialise in helping my clients make the right investment decisions and being responsible for implementing the investment strategy and day-to-day management of portfolios. I advise them on investments during their professional career, pre and post sale of their business, optimising income up to and beyond retirement, tax-efficient investments and managing family assets for the next generation. I help create the most suitable portfolios for returns on a risk-adjusted basis using a spread of investments across different asset classes including UK and overseas equities, fixed interest, hedge funds, infrastructure funds and structured products.
I bring more than two decades of experience to my role. After graduating from Manchester University Law School, I joined Investec in 1998 as a trainee media analyst before moving across to the private client investment management division in late 1999. I’m a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute and hold a Diploma from the Personal Finance Society. In 2010, I was named in the national ‘Top 40 under 40’ list of private bankers in the UK and UK offshore, organised by industry body PAM Insight.
I am a member of the Liverpool Voluntary Aid Club and sit on the corporate fundraising committee for Blackburn Cathedral. I also play for the Liverpool Ramblers Association Football Club and I’m a member of Formby Golf Club.

Investec have invested heavily in the research function so portfolio managers and research work collaboratively to pool both experience and knowledge. Our guiding principle is that a research-based approach will reveal any market imperfections and provide the best overall results in the long term. Increasing volatility suggest that markets are becoming less efficient in the short and medium term. This approach allows us to exploit such opportunities for our clients’ advantage through a policy of active rather than passive management.
