About me
As a Financial Planning Director, my priority is to help my clients achieve their financial goals. The starting point in this journey is to understand their current position, requirements and financial objectives, and then in partnership I help them to build a tailored financial plan that suits their present and future needs. I specialise in all aspects of financial planning including pension and retirement saving strategies, tax efficient structures, the structure of retirement income, inheritance tax planning and protection planning. To ensure the best possible outcome for my clients I work closely with Investment Managers and Investec’s in-house research team to identify suitable and appropriate solutions, matching clients’ risk profiles and objectives to investment portfolios that will deliver for them over the years.
Background/Experience
I started my career in financial services as an investment manager with Bell Lawrie (now Brewin Dolphin) in Dundee over 15 years ago, before moving to their Edinburgh office. In this role I managed investment portfolios for a wide variety of private clients, trust and charities. I later transitioned into the financial planning team with Brewin Dolphin and advised private clients on all aspects of financial planning. After a spell working with Rathbones as a senior financial planner, where I was the first financial planner in the Edinburgh office, I joined Investec as a financial planning director at the beginning of 2020. My qualifications include being a Chartered Financial Planner through the CII, holding an Advanced Diploma in Financial Plannnig, and being a Chartered Wealth Manager through the CISI.
My interests
I live in East Lothian with my young family, and enjoy spending time outdoors with them whether it be cycling, walking or involved in water sports. I am also a keen golfer and a member of a club in East Lothian.
