My key priority is to understand my clients and help them achieve their financial goals, ensuring the best possible outcome is delivered based on their current and future needs as well as attitude to risk, via a tailored financial plan. This could incorporate areas such as inheritance tax and retirement planning. Often this will involve working in conjunction with my research and financial planning colleagues, where appropriate, to manage portfolios for my clients, consisting of private individuals, charities, trusts and personal pension schemes.
I have over three decades of experience in financial services in a number of organisations, initially in the legal and banking sectors, before joining Edinburgh Fund Managers in 2003. I then joined Investec in 2013 as a senior investment director. The experience I have gained in these various organisations over the years has given me exposure to a wide range of situations that can come in very useful when helping clients. As well as my experice I am a fully qualified Chartered Wealth Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. I also hold the Scottish Stock Exchange Clerks certificate, Investment Advice (IAC) certificate, Investment Management (IMC) certificate and Private Client Investment Advice certificate. In addition to my normal day job, I helped set up and a Trustee for a small community charity in a remote part of the West Highlands of Scotland.
I play social golf and also spend time keeping my garden under control. I have also held my private Pilot’s licence for many years and spend the odd weekend flying myself around the UK and into Europe.
