Dr Marc Kahn
Global Head of People and Organisation Development
A seasoned executive in the people space, OD consultant, executive coach, coach supervisor and clinical psychologist, Marc is responsible for the people value chain of the company worldwide. Specifically his areas work to facilitate the way Investec’s culture supports and drives its people and their businesses toward extraordinary performance.
Marc is a systems theory protagonist who approaches his work with the fundamental notion that extraordinary environments, more-so than special individuals, are the key to delivering out of the ordinary outcomes.
He has taught at various institutions for 25 years, and speaks at conferences and events on organisational success, leadership, culture, diversity and inclusion, innovation and learning in the twenty first century.
Background/experience
He has been with Investec since 2008. Prior to that he was managing director of a consulting house (subsequently acquired by EY) that specialised in leadership and team development, coaching, mediation and facilitation. He began his career in 1997 as a clinical psychologist in private practice, where he focused on adult psychotherapy and psycho-legal assessments, for which he acted as expert witness in court.
Qualifications
Marc is a psychologist (HPCSA & PBA), a chartered business coach (WABC), a certified master coach (IMCSA) and a seasoned management consultant.
Marc is a Visiting Professor of People, Organisation and Strategy at Middlesex University, and the author of the book: Coaching on the Axis: Working with Complexity in Business and Executive Coaching (2014) Routledge: London.
In 2019, Marc delivered a TEDx Talk on how to get extraordinary performance out of ordinary people.
What drives me
Marc is passionate about the culture of Investec. Specifically the values: “freedom to operate” and “open and honest dialogue” because he says these align with his own personal values and give him "the feeling of running my own business".
My interests
Marc is a family man. "I love my family most, I have four children so it’s like running a crazy house most of the time!"
