How it works

An easy three step process PayShap Request details are available on Investec Online and the App. Go to ‘Manage’, ‘Payments’ and ‘PayShap Request’.

1. Receive a request

As the payer, you will receive a PayShap Request notification via Investec Online or the App. The message includes:

  • the requestor’s name
  • the requested amount
  • any minimum amount, if applicable
  • payment references
  • the expiry date and time

A requestor can cancel a PayShap Request at any time

2. Review the request

Always check the PayShap Request details carefully. If anything is unclear, seems suspicious or the requestor is unfamiliar, decline the request and provide a reason.

Never share sensitive information and keep your ShapID and contact details up to date.

You can also take no action and allow the request to expire after a set period of up to 45 days.

3. Make the payment

If everything is correct, you can make the payment.

If the requestor allows a minimum amount, you can pay any amount between that minimum and the full requested amount.

You cannot:

  • pay less than the minimum amount
  • more than the requested amount
  • in instalments

Transaction details will be available in your transaction history
