Discretionary Segregated Mandates
The Investec Wealth & Investment segregated portfolios encompass a range of different mandates across various asset classes and risk profiles. Each mandate targets specific objectives and investment strategies.
Long Term Growth Portfolio
Our flagship equity mandate is positioned to deliver capital and income growth over the medium to long term through investing in JSE-listed equities. The portfolio includes existing blue chip companies, emerging growth companies, and turnaround opportunities or cyclical shares at favourable valuations. We also offer a long-term growth strategy mandate including offshore opportunities through our World Axis Core Fund.
This is an unconstrained mandate, which may elect to invest in both Top 40 blue chip counters as well as small and mid-cap shares. Smaller shares are evaluated with potential returns balanced against liquidity. Each eligible security is assessed on a forward-looking metric encompassing its earnings estimate. This is done on a rolling two year forward basis, whilst applying an appropriate exit price earnings multiple, based on expectations of the trajectory of the margin cycle, all taking into account both company and industry specifics.
Yield and Capital Appreciation Mandates
Progressive Yield Portfolio
The objective of the Progressive Yield Portfolio is to provide investors with a yield above the market average, along with growing levels of income, while protecting the real value of the capital invested. To achieve this objective, the portfolio can comprise of equities with high sustainable dividend yields, listed property, preference share and bonds.
Listed Property Portfolio
This mandate aims to provide longer-term investors with a growing income stream that can translate into capital growth over time. It is a concentrated, high-conviction portfolio with the focus being on companies with excellent management teams, quality underlying assets and portfolios with income growth potential. Gearing can be applied to the portfolio.
Asset Allocation Mandates
Balanced Mandates are offered in the retirement space and are Regulation 28 compliant.
Retirement High Equity Portfolio (Regulation 28 compliant)
Retirement Medium Equity Portfolio (Regulation 28 compliant)
This mandate complies with Regulation 28, meaning that up to 75% of the portfolio can be invested in equities. This moderate mandate allows a maximum of 65% in equities with the balance being in fixed income instruments. Typically, this portfolio ranges between 40% and 65% in equities.
Retirement Low Equity Portfolio (Regulation 28 compliant)
This mandate complies with Regulation 28, meaning that up to 75% of the portfolio can be invested in equities. However, this mandate is more conservative, allowing a maximum of 40% in equities with the balance being in fixed income instruments.
Managed Mandates are also asset allocation mandates but are available using voluntary funds.
