Programme
Recognising the entrepreneurial spirit in the organisation, the Venture Builder creates a hybrid environment and dedicated space, time and resources for intrapreneurs at Investec to focus on new initiatives, while still being connected to the wider organisation. It’s also designed to find and accelerate the next “big idea” or division that is not currently within the scope of our existing activities to exponentially grow the group.
How?
Ideas will initially be filtered by a panel made up of leaders from various parts of the Group. Following the filtering process, if the idea is successful, time and assistance will be provided from the Investec Principal Investments team to refine the pitch before ultimately presenting it to a panel of executives.
If the idea is backed, the team will get access to infrastructure and experience, entrepreneurial learnings, required funding, a route to market and an incentive programme linked to the idea’s success.
Ideas received that are more suited to adding value to an existing division will be directed toward the applicable division. However, ideas that represent a new angle for Investec and are outside the scope of existing activities will be considered in the Venture Builder process.
Investec Venture Builder
Within the Venture Builder, you get the chance to be an entrepreneur – without taking on all the risk.
As part of the programme, you’ll have access to:
- Infrastructure and experience. Work with dynamic, multi-disciplinary internal teams (marketing, legal, accounting, tax, IT) as well as mentors and industry experts to help take the business to market.
- Entrepreneurial learnings. Learnings around team structuring, business development, validating concept and strategic management and integration will be unpacked around you.
- Participation in the idea. An EVA renumeration pool will be created linked to the success of the idea and bonuses will be discretionary.
- Route to market. Benefit from strategic involvement from senior executives to help you launch the business in the market with access where applicable and pre-agreed to existing client bases in the group.
- Financial backing. Investec will provide the resources and capital structure to fund the business plan.
