  • Why Helsinki for architecture, eco-construction, urban & regional planning?

According to the 2016 Environmental Performance Index, Finland is the most eco-friendly country in the world. Finland is slated to run 38% off of renewable energy by 2020, and is the only country in the European Union to overachieve its own environmental targets while also exceeding the European Union average increase in renewables share for 2014. Its thus implements some of the world's most environmentally-friendly engineering practices as it builds its cities.

Helsinki has been ranked one of top three cities in the world for entrepreneurship and innovation (CITIE). Helsinki is home to Smart Kalasatama, a Smart City experimental innovation platform that co-creates smart and clean urban infrastructure and services. Finland's universities have some of the world's top programmes in Urban and Regional Planning.
