It is possible for Investec Wealth & Investment (UK) to continue to receive client money even after a client has left the firm. For example, where late dividend payments are received or a credit is owed. In these circumstances, we will attempt to contact the client in order to forward any monies received to the beneficial owner. This is sometimes not possible and in those circumstances, we will retain any funds received on that account. If after 6 years of receipt of monies we are still unable to establish contact and the total value of monies held is under £25 we will send a final letter to our last known address for the client. This letter will advise that in 28 days’ from the postdate if no contact has been made with Investec Wealth & Investment (UK) this balance will no longer be treated as Client Money and in due course be donated to a charity of our choice which includes but is not limited to local networks, hospices and support groups.

Should you receive a letter, please contact us via our dedicated email address of clientcare@investecwin.co.uk referencing Unclaimed Client Money in the subject header. Once we have received your email contact we will respond in order to verify your claim to the monies in question and discuss the most appropriate way to return those funds to you.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Client Assets Sourcebook (CASS) rules allow firms to pay away to charity any allocated but unclaimed client money where the client has gone away, the firm has been unable to make contact, and providing certain conditions have been met.
