In addition to our high school bursary programme, Investec also works with high school learners via several other vacation programmes, career exposure events and extra tuition initiatives.
Investec's flagship Promaths programme gives high school learners extra lessons in Maths and Science, while the Midlands Community College supports grade 12 learners with their studies in Maths, Science and Accounting.
From career counselling to job-shadowing and an innovative mobile career guidance hot line, Investec helps high school learners to make informed decisions about their path of study and future careers.
Investec is built on a culture of entrepreneurship and we seek to convey the importance of this to learners through our Junior Innovators academy programme.
Career Xplora
CareerXplora is an online career development platform that delivers comprehensive, accessible, and personalised career guidance to South African youth, enabling them to make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.
Developed through Investec’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) department, CareerXplora is offered entirely free of charge, ensuring youth have equitable access to high-quality career development resources regardless of their socio-economic background.
The project adopts an integrated approach to career development by combining structured information on subject choices, career pathways, tertiary education, funding opportunities, and employment prospects with interactive tools such as career assessments and quizzes that support self-discovery and evidence-based decision-making.
Notably, CareerXplora incorporates real-time human support through live chat services, connecting users with HPCSA-registered psychologists, career counsellors, and psychometrists who provide personalised guidance to youth who require one-on-one support.
Designed as a low-data, multi-channel platform accessible via web and mobile, and through widely used communication tools such as WhatsApp, the project ensures broad reach and usability across diverse contexts.
By integrating technology, professional expertise, and inclusive design, CareerXplora not only facilitates individual career decision-making but also contributes to improved educational outcomes, stronger alignment with labour market demands, and the long-term development of human capital within South Africa.

Junior Tukkies
The Junior Tukkie programme is a partnership between Investec and the University of Pretoria. The programme identifies top academic achievers at high school level and assists them to make informed study choices.
It's open to learners from Grade 9 to 12 with an average of 60% in their final examinations. The JuniorTukkie office annually hosts a Grade 11 Empowerment Week for JuniorTukkie members as well as a Preparation Conference for Grade 12 learners who qualify.
