These new hires will operate under the leadership of Marc Potel, who assumed the role of Head of Industrials M&A in April 2023.

Penny Pan joins from Goldman Sachs as an Associate Director, bringing with her 10 years of experience.

Damian Dunn, formerly an equity research analyst at Investec focused on support services, is also now part of the team.

Kealyn Coetzee has come aboard from EY Cape Town, with a background in Corporate Finance.

Lastly, Rory Duggan has joined Investec following the completion of a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting at Imperial College London. Prior to this, Rory spent three years at the law firm Arthur Cox as an M&A Associate Lawyer.

These appointments will further strengthen Investec’s well-established franchise in corporate broking for the industrial sector. The bank serves a diverse client base spanning aerospace & defence, automotive, building products, capital goods, chemicals, industrial services, and packaging.

The hires mark another milestone in the development of Investec’s M&A advisory team and follow its recent acquisition of a majority stake in Capitalmind Group, one of continental Europe’s leading independent M&A and corporate finance advisory firms.

Investec’s M&A advisory team has grown rapidly over the past five years and now numbers close to 200 people across Europe, South Africa, and India.

Marc Potel, Head of Industrials M&A at Investec, said: “We are rapidly building out our industrials M&A coverage and the addition of Penny, Damian, Kealyn, and Rory is a key part of that. Our strong existing relationships with corporates in the sector and deep market knowledge position us very well as we expect market activity to pick up going into 2024.”

Jonathan Arrowsmith, Head of UK M&A at Investec, said: “Investec’s M&A advisory team has enjoyed rapid growth in recent years and these new hires are the latest step in that journey. Our expanded team and recent acquisition of a majority stake in Capitalmind will enable us to continue building our strength and capability across the European M&A landscape.”
