As a leading wealth manager, Investec Wealth & Investment is proud to announce the sponsorship of one of South Africa’s top rugby players, Cheslin Kolbe. Both partners are not only at the top of their respective professional fields, but also hold a deep desire to help and support their fellow South Africans.
Recognised for his speed, agility, skill and strength on the field, Cheslin is a force to be reckoned with for both his country and his current club, French Top 14 side Toulon. He is widely considered to be one of the best wings in world rugby, famously scoring a sensational try in both the triumphant 2019 World Cup final and the decisive third Test against the British & Irish Lions in 2021.
Kolbe’s international career started in 2018 when he was called-up to the South Africa national team for the Rugby Championship, and he has remained an integral part of the Test side ever since making his debut against Australia.
The 28-year-old's career is managed by Roc Nation Sports International, the world-renowned agency that also facilitated this partnership between Kolbe and Investec Wealth & Investment.
"The Kolbe family has complex international financial needs – earning money across multiple jurisdictions within the compact space of a rugby player's career. This requires deep specialist expertise to ensure a meaningful and lasting legacy is created for generations to follow. Not only do we aim to ensure we deliver on this for the Kolbe family, but we want to build a strong bond with them as part of the Investec family," said Ryan Parkhurst, head of marketing at Investec Wealth & Investment.
Hailing from incredibly humble beginnings, Kolbe is considered a global powerhouse and one of the most respected and feared players found on a rugby pitch. This has little to do with brute strength or size, but because of his intelligence, agility, determination and work ethic. A position echoed by Investec Wealth & Investment.
“Working closely with individuals and families to plan and manage their wealth, Investec Wealth & Investment is built around offering customised wealth management based on their goals, their family and their different life stages,” adds Parkhurst.
Speaking on the sponsorship, Kolbe said: “I have full trust in the Investec wealth team and the people who are managing my family. I take great comfort in always knowing what is happening with my finances and the roadmap ahead for our family investments. We are excited for what lies ahead.”
Parkhurst said there was all-important alignment and synergy between all parties involved in this sponsorship.
“Our role is to help individuals navigate life’s journey and achieve a meaningful and lasting legacy by unlocking opportunities. We are immensely proud to be working with Kolbe – his resilience, perseverance and drive is an example for us all and we look forward to walking this Out of the Ordinary journey with him,” concludes Parkhurst.
