Each year The Banker publishes a ranking of the Top 1000 Global Banks. To identify the best performers, The Banker scores and ranks the banks in eight key performance categories using 17 ratios, and assigns an overall best-performing bank score and ranking. Many bankers and analysts use the ranking as an insightful and valuable tool for benchmarking and assessing the performance of the global banking industry.

This year the rankings revealed how banks across the world have fared through one of the most challenging and uncertain periods in our history.

Investec was recognised as the best-performing bank in South Africa for the second year running and the best performing bank in the UK. This accolade illustrates the growth and resilience of Investec and its clients in both geographies.

Fani Titi, Investec’s Group Chief Executive, says:

“This is a welcome endorsement of our unflagging commitment to our clients, and our renewed focus on disciplined growth in our two core geographies. What a privilege it is to work with such a uniquely talented team in the UK, SA and across the globe, and so gratifying to see their efforts recognised, particularly in these trying times."

Ruth Leas, CEO of Investec Bank plc adds:

“I’m thrilled that Investec has been recognised by The Banker as the best-performing bank in the UK – a proud moment for a truly Out of the Ordinary team. It’s great to see our commitment to client service excellence paying off, especially in this difficult economic climate. We look forward to continued growth alongside our clients.”
