Investec strengthens commitment to women’s golf with new sponsorship

Investec, the leading international bank and wealth manager, has announced its newest sponsorship of professional golfer Kaiyuree Moodley.

The announcement comes ahead of the highly anticipated 32nd Investec South African Women’s Open, taking place from April 10-13 - reinforcing Investec’s commitment to elevating women’s golf and creating platforms that foster South African talent on the international stage.

Moodley, who turned professional earlier this year after completing a four-year golf scholarship at the University of North Carolina, has already made an impact with strong results on tour. Her dedication and consistent work ethic over nearly two decades of playing golf have paved the way for remarkable opportunities, including representing South Africa at the Junior Olympics in Argentina (2018) and finishing tied first at the prestigious Annika Invitational in 2019.

She now joins a select group of South African golfers backed by Investec, including Zethu Myeki, Nicole Garcia, Danielle du Toit, and Ivanna Samu.

“I am thrilled to be joining a line of incredible women, both on and off the course, who also align with my values and are strong proponents of furthering women’s golf,” said Moodley. “I come from a family of outliers so when golf found me at the age of four, instead of raising eyebrows, my parents did everything to support me. Adding Investec’s commitment to me means that I can go even further by playing more tournaments on the Ladies European Tour.”

With Investec’s backing, Moodley is set to continue her rise, representing South Africa on the international stage and contributing to the growing prominence of women’s golf.

“As a brand that celebrates local talent, we are proud to support Kaiyuree as she embarks on this new chapter of her career,” said Peta Dixon, head of sponsorships at Investec. “We’ve followed her journey for some time and have been impressed by her determination, talent, and professionalism and we are pleased to be able to support her at such a crucial stage in her career and help her gain the exposure and support she needs to succeed locally and internationally.”

Investec, in collaboration with its partners, has been instrumental in elevating the stature of the SA Women’s Open, transforming it into a globally recognised championship that attracts elite talent from across the world. Co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Ladies Tour and the Ladies European Tour, the event boasts a competitive field of 120 players from 36 countries, competing over 72 holes.

Investec’s unwavering commitment to advancing women’s golf is reflected not only in its title sponsorship of the SA Women’s Open but also as the title sponsor of the Investec Order of Merit, with a R200,000 prize, and the Investec Homegrown Award, offering R100,000. Furthermore, the tournament’s prize purse has seen remarkable growth, reaching an impressive €340,000 (approximately R6.6 million) - the largest in Southern Africa. This substantial investment underscores Investec’s dedication to fostering opportunities for female golfers and elevating the sport on an international scale.

“The Investec South African Women’s Open brings an opportunity to showcase our talent and a chance to compare ourselves against an international field,” added Moodley. “Investec pride themselves in furthering women’s golf and I truly believe this has been a huge step to bringing awareness to women’s golf in South Africa. I want to pave a way forward for young girls, who look like me, to not conform to societal norms but to follow their dreams.”

“This sponsorship reflects our commitment to identifying exceptional talent and supporting athletes on their journey to long-term success. World-class partnerships raise the game, and we look forward to supporting Moodley as she competes on the international stage and inspires the next generation of South African golfers,” concludes Dixon.
