Text messages

Below we've answered questions we're regularly asked about joint accounts. If you have a question that's not answered, we'd appreciate you telling us via our feedback form.  

  • Why is Investec sending me text messages?

    To keep your account safe.

    We send text messages as a way of stopping fraud, for example to check it really is you dealing with your account.

  • How do I stop Investec Online sending me text messages?

    You can’t opt out of messages we send to prevent fraud, but you can opt out of certain notification texts. Just give us a call on 0330 123 1966 if you're in the UK or +44(0) 207 597 4044 if you're abroad. 

  • Can I reply to a text from you?

    No, we use an automated system to send texts. If you have any concerns, please call us on 0330 123 1966 if you're in the UK or +44(0)207 597 4044 if you're abroad. 

  • How do I let you know my mobile number has changed?

    You can do it online or by calling us on 0330 123 1966 if you're in the UK or +44(0)207 597 4044 if you're overseas. Whichever is easier for you.

  • Do you send the same message to joint account holders?

    Not always.

    You only receive a text about your own activity in a joint account.

  • I don't recognise activity in a text you have sent me, what should I do?

    Don’t respond, and call us immediately.

    If you get a text that makes you suspicious in any way, please call us straight away on one of the numbers below.

    Don’t reply to the text and DO NOT call the number in the text message, even if it looks like one of ours. Hackers can ‘spoof’ legitimate phone numbers so that they divert to their own phones and call centres.

Changing your details

  • How can I update my contact details?

    You can do this by:

    • Updating your details in Investec Online.
    • Calling us on 0330 123 1966 if you're in the UK or +44(0)207 597 4044 if you're overseas.

  • How do I change my Investec Online details?

    You need to do this in Investec Online.

    Your online banking details and your account details are separate. Changing your online banking details will not update the bank details we hold for you.

Giving us instructions

Below we've answered questions we're regularly asked about giving us instructions to do something. If you have a question that's not answered, we'd appreciate you telling us via our feedback form.  

  • Can I send you account instructions by post?

    Yes you can.

    It will take much longer for us to carry out your instructions compared to if you do it by phone or on Investec Online. If you want to make a withdrawal this way, then download the 'notice withdrawal' form and send it to:

  • Can I send you account instructions by email?

    Sorry, no.

    At the moment we can't accept instructions by email or secure messaging.
