Caution – Fake WhatsApp Group and misuse of employee information

It has come to our notice that certain unknown persons are fraudulently impersonating Investec Capital Services (India) Private Limited and its Head of Equities, Mr. Mukul Kocchar, by misusing our brand, name, and logo. These individuals are operating through fake WhatsApp groups and fabricated images to unlawfully solicit investments from the public. Some investment advice is being shared on this WhatsApp group in the name of our employee, Mr. Mukul Kochhar.

We would like to clarify that neither Mr. Mukul Kochhar nor the Investec Group is associated with these fraudulent activities and has not authorized any such solicitations/ WhatsApp groups.

We also like to caution the public at large that there could be other surreptitious and/or fraudulent social media handles or other platforms which have not come to our knowledge yet but are criminally and fraudulently abusing our name and indulging in impersonation of ours or any of our employees with nefarious design of market manipulation and/or defrauding the investing public at large.

We would like to clarify and caution the public that Investec Capital Services (India) Private Limited is a regulated entity registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India and (a) there are no mobile applications or social media handles through which we conduct business activities including stock broking; (b) we do not send business communications through SMS; and (c) we do not ask anyone to join WhatsApp or similar platforms for business activities. Please exercise utmost caution while dealing with persons claiming to be employees/officials of Investec Capital Services (India) Private Limited or when such services are solicited in that entity’s name. Everyone is requested to verify the source of communication and content which is published on behalf of Investec Capital Services (India) Private Limited and to check its official website.
