Investec derby

Golden Horn and Frankie Dettori came out on top in the 236th running of the Investec Derby, Britain’s richest horse race. Frankie produced a wonderful ride on the favourite to beat his John Gosden-trained stablemate Jack Hobbs by three-and-a-half lengths. Golden Horn became the first horse since Sea the Stars to follow up his Derby success by winning the Coral Eclipse at Sandown Park and then went on to light up Longchamp when winning the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in devastating fashion.

Renowned as the world’s greatest flat race and one of the biggest social events in the British calendar, this year’s Derby Festival takes place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 June and is estimated to attract over 125,000 visitors.

Frankie Dettori commented:

“The Investec Derby is the greatest flat race in the world. It’s the one every jockey wants to win, so to have achieved this twice is something I am very proud of. ” Reminiscing about last year’s Investec Derby he said; “Racing at Epsom Downs Racecourse on Derby Day is a unique feeling. In my 28 years of riding, that last furlong, I have never felt that kind of emotion.”

Ladies Day tickets start from £13.50 and Derby Day tickets start from £15.00. For further information on the enclosures and to book tickets please visit www.epsomderby.co.uk or call Epsom Downs Racecourse on 0844 579 3004.
