Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson announced as ambassador for Investec Derby 2016
The Investec Derby Festival has today announced the second of their 2016 Ambassador line-up: the female star of the hugely successful and critically acclaimed BBC series POLDARK, Eleanor Tomlinson.
Best known for her lead role as ‘Demelza’, the fiery servant who falls in love with Captain Ross Poldark (Aiden Turner), Eleanor Tomlinson was named a Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2014. Born in London she grew up in Yorkshire and from a young age has enjoyed a great affinity to horse racing through her father’s career as a horse racing commentator (Malcolm Tomlinson).
Eleanor was photographed to launch this prestigious event in a selection of Derby Day-inspired fashion at its host racecourse, Epsom Downs. Renowned as the world’s greatest flat race and one of the biggest social events in the British calendar, this year’s Investec Derby Festival takes place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 June and is estimated to attract over 125,000 visitors.
Eleanor Tomlinson commented:
“I’m absolutely delighted to be invited to be an ambassador for the Investec Derby.” She added, “Horse racing has been a huge part of my life since an early age; my father is a commentator and I grew up in the saddle so it’s a real honour to be part of one of racing’s most prestigious events. I absolutely loved the fashion at the photoshoot and can’t wait to dress up and attend Investec Derby Day on Saturday 4 June!”
Ladies Day tickets start from £13.50 and Derby Day tickets from £15.00. For further information on the enclosures and to book tickets please visit www.epsomderby.co.uk or call Epsom Downs Racecourse on 0844 579 3004.
