In December 2023, Investec Energy & Infrastructure Finance closed $240 million of senior secured credit facilities to support Catamaran Renewables, a partnership between South Jersey Industries and Captona LLC, in the construction and operation of Linden Renewable Energy, LLC (“Linden” or the “Project”).

Our role

Investec acted as Sole Bookrunner, Collateral Agent and Administrative Agent to lead the transaction. In its role, Investec led the education of lenders to the RNG asset class resulting in an oversubscription of the capital raise, with six additional lenders participating in the financing. Uniquely, Investec successfully pioneered the issuance of a Tax Credit Bridge Loan without a tax credit investor identified upfront. This transaction underscores Investec's expertise structuring bespoke and market-shaping transactions, and reinforces our commitment to the energy transition.

About Linden

Linden is a food waste-to-renewable natural gas (RNG) facility located in Linden, New Jersey, with a capacity of ~3,500 MMBtu/day making it one of the largest facilities of its kind under construction globally. The Project benefits from new legislation in New York and New Jersey that now mandates all organic commercial waste to be diverted away from landfill sites to greener alternatives such as Linden. The Project is projected to have an immediate positive impact with 120,000 MT of CO2 avoided annually through the diversion of New York City’s food waste away from landfills.
