This follows the success of Investec’s sponsorship of the Heriot’s v Barbarians rugby match towards the end of last season, the Edinburgh club’s 125th anniversary.

Heriot’s are the reigning champions in Scotland’s BT Premiership and are a long-standing member club of the Scottish Rugby Union, having produced a host of celebrated players over the years, including Scotland and British Lions full-backs, Ken Scotland and Andy Irvine.

Investec has a long history of sponsoring rugby, beginning at Twickenham in 1998 with the Investec Internationals. Today Investec has four major platforms that showcase, harness and develop rugby excellence; Investec Super Rugby, the Rugby Championship, the Investec International Rugby Academy (based in South Africa and New Zealand) and the School of Hard Knocks charity (based in UK).

Iain Milne, former Scotland tight-head prop, who was a heroic figure in Scotland’s 1984 Grand Slam and is now involved off the field at the club, from which he progressed to the game’s highest honours, said:

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Investec Wealth & Investment on our rugby programme for the next three years. Investec’s roots and experience within the field of rugby are truly global and this is a real coup for us as a club to have secured backing from such a company.

"It also speaks volumes about the health of the grassroots game in Scotland. Investec are a good fit for Heriot’s and we are delighted to welcome them as our partner.”

Murray Mackay, Executive Director of Investec’s Edinburgh Wealth & Investment office, said:

“We are delighted to grow our partnership with Heriots Rugby Club after the success of last year’s sponsorship of the Heriots v Barbarians match. Our long standing affiliation with rugby at Investec harnesses our values of passion, energy, stamina and outstanding talent.”
