Investec Corporate and Investment Banking (“Investec”) is pleased to announce the appointments of Ben Bourne, Michael Donnelly and Salvatore Caruso as it strengthens its equity research team.
Ben has joined Investec to head the capital goods research team. He has 15 years’ experience as an equity research analyst and joins from Liberum, where he led the UK capital goods equity research team from 2010. His research coverage encompassed aerospace and defence, industrial engineering, electrical equipment, support services and the tech hardware sector. Prior to this, he was the industrials analyst at Oriel Securities.
Ben commented:
“I’m excited to be joining Investec – the team has comprehensive coverage, extensive expertise and a great reputation for impactful research. This is an interesting time to be covering industrials. Market views are polarising and we’re in a fantastic position to be able to provide distinctive, high-quality research.”
Michael joins from Panmure Gordon & Co where he was an executive director in equity research. He has spent more than 15 years in equity markets across a number of sectors, and before that worked in technology consulting roles across the globe. Most recently he has focussed on support services, which he will also be covering at Investec, alongside Kellie McAvoy. Kellie joined earlier in 2018 from Carillion plc where she was head of investor relations. She worked for seven years at JP Morgan Cazenove in equity research, focusing on European business services.
Salvatore has joined the financials team, having spent eight years focussing on financial institutions across all subsectors, including wealth, asset management, banks, insurance and fintech. Salvatore moves to Investec from Canaccord Genuity, where he was lead analyst for the asset and wealth management subsectors for three years. Prior to this, he spent five years at Hawkpoint Partners in the financial institutions team.
Harold Hutchinson, head of research and power and utilities analyst at Investec, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Ben, Michael and Salvatore to Investec’s equity research team. They each have impressive and wide-ranging experience in their respective sectors and will make an important contribution to Investec as we continue to enhance our research offering for clients in a post-MiFID II environment.”
Harold added:
“Our research continues to be greatly valued by our clients and the demand is high. I’m looking forward to growing the team further in the coming months.”
