Jarvis heading to The Masters and The British Open after victory
Casey Jarvis seized control with three birdies in his opening five holes and closed with a 3-under 67 to win the Investec South African Open, earning the 22-year-old South African back-to-back victories on the DP Qorld Tour, and securing him a spot in the Masters and the British Open.
Displaying maturity beyond his years, Jarvis produced one of the most composed rounds of his career under testing conditions. He overcame a demanding course, persistent rain, and a lightning delay to card a final-round 67, finishing on 14-under-par to secure a three-shot victory.
South Africa’s Hennie du Plessis, along with France’s Frédéric Lacroix and Italy’s Francesco Laporta, shared second place on 11-under.
After his extraordinary victory at the sold-out Investec SA Open, an elated Jarvis sais he felt on top of the world.
Sponsorship extension of men’s and women’s national Opens
Investec has significantly strengthened its commitment to South African golf with a five-year extension of its support of the men’s and women’s professional game as well as the development of the game. The extended partnership reinforces Investec's long-term commitment to South African sport and the pathways that help local talent compete on the biggest international stages.
Further to this, Investec also announced another five-year extension of its patron support of the Papwa Sewgolum Class, the Sunshine Tour’s official transformation programme for previously disadvantaged golfers who seek to turn professional.
To this end, Investec has rewarded Karabo Mokoena as the leading Papwa Sewgolum Class member with an exemption in the Investec South African Open this week.
Peta Dixon, Head of Sponsorships at Investec says, “These championships are a stage where South African talent can be celebrated both at home and internationally, and tested against the best. We also want more young players to be able to see a route into the professional ranks, which is why the Papwa Sewgolum Class matters.”
Masters invitation for 2026 champion
For the first time in the Investec SA Open's history, the winner received an invitation to play the Masters Tournament at Augusta National, joining an exclusive field that represents the pinnacle of the sport.
This announcement underscores the Sunshine Tour’s growing influence on the global golf landscape. “It is a powerful endorsement of the Sunshine Tour’s status as a strong and sustainable Tour, and further recognition of our role as a valued member of the global golf ecosystem,” says Thomas Abt, Commissioner of the Sunshine Tour.
