  • What is Verified by Visa (VbV)?

    Verified by Visa is simple and easy to use and protects you against unauthorised card use when shopping online. You’ll see the Verified by Visa logo on retailer websites. The VbV screen may appear when you confirm a payment online and ask you to enter a ‘One-Time Passcode’ (OTP).   

  • How does it work?

    After you have entered your card details and confirmed payment at checkout, the VbV screen may appear and ask you to enter an OTP. This is a six-digit numeric code that will be sent to your mobile number registered with us. Once your OTP has been authorised you can continue with your purchase.

  • How do I register for Verified by Visa?

    All Investec card holders are automatically enrolled. It is important that Investec holds your latest mobile number to be registered to ensure you receive the OTP to complete the transaction, as we send the OTP only to the number we have on file. 

  • What is the registered mobile number?

    The registered mobile number is the latest number that Investec has listed for you. You can check your registered mobile number through Investec Online or if you prefer to speak to someone about your details call the number on the back of your card.  

  • How do I change my mobile number?

    If you are in a hurry, you can call into Investec and ask to amend your registered mobile number and our records will be updated straight away so you can continue with your purchase. Please call the number on the back of your card. 

     

    You can also update your registered mobile number through Investec Online but this is not updated instantly. 

  • How do I know that it is a text from Investec?

    You can tell the text is from Investec when you have received it just after confirming payment details with an online merchant that uses Verified by Visa. The text will be sent to the registered mobile number we have listed for you. 

     

    Here is a sample of the text that we send: The Passcode for your online purchase of GBPxxxxxxxx.xx at [MerchantName] is xxxxxx. Please contact Investec if you didn’t request this.     

     

    As good practice, when you receive the text check that the purchase amount and merchant name is correct. We will never ask you for your code! If anyone calls claiming to be from Investec and asks for your code, hang up and call the number on the back of your card.
