What to do when someone dies
Informing us of the death of a client
Assessing, managing and finalising the financial affairs of someone who has died can be hard to deal with, at what is already a difficult time.
To notify us that a client of ours has passed away, please inform their Financial Planner or Investment Manager at Investec Wealth & Investment (UK). If you don't know who that is, please complete the form below and we will reach out to you.
It's usually the executor or administrator of the deceased's estate who does this. Every situation is different, but we will ask for a Death Certificate and often require legal documents like a will or trust agreement. So having these ready can help the process - but we will talk this through with you.
Please note that Investec Wealth & Investment (UK) is now part of the Rathbones Group Plc and no longer in the Investec Group of companies. As such, any queries about accounts with Investec Bank plc should be directed through their Contact Us webpage.
Please also note that UK-specific regulations and procedures apply in these situations, and tax laws can affect estates, so we recommend consulting with professionals who are knowledgeable about UK estate and tax laws.
