About me
I manage investment portfolios for private clients, charities, trusts and pension funds, on a discretionary or advisory basis. It is important for me to personally meet prospective new clients to fully understand the individuals present financial circumstances and their future aims and objectives. This is likely to cover a number of areas such as income requirements, capital preservation, tax planning, retirement planning and providing for their family members both now, and in the future. I keep in regular contact with my clients, through whichever medium is the most appropriate, so that I am fully aware of their needs and requirements on an ongoing basis. Although I work on the investment management side of the business, I regularly introduce my financial planning colleagues to my clients, when their expertise is required.
Background/Experience
I began my career with Barclays Bank taking on a wide variety of roles within the foreign and securities departments, before making a career change in 1985, when I moved into stockbroking. In the early stages I worked as a dealer, which encompassed the stock market crash of October 1987, and then proceeded to move into investment management when I started to build my own client base. This has provided me with a wealth of experience in financial services and is helpful when assisting my wide range of clients, given their varied requirements. I am an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (Chartered FCSI).
My interests
I like to spend time walking in the countryside, in particular the Peak District, which is close to where I live. I also enjoy travelling in the UK and overseas in order to broaden my horizons, and to have a better understanding of how other countries operate and their varying cultures. As well as going to the gym, I also enjoy watching football, following Sheffield United, where I have been a season ticket holder for many years.
