Who may apply?

Please note the following application criteria:

  • Applicants must be going into Grade 10, 11 or 12
  • Applicants must be able to prove financial need and academic
    potential
  • Applicants must display good academic potential in the
    fields of pure Maths, Accounting and Science
  • Applicants must be have been enrolled at a school that meets
    our criteria for a minimum of one year at the time of application. School criteria includes:
    • Should have a minimum of 75% of their learners
      taking Pure Maths
    • 90% matric pass rate (minimum) with 80% university entrance qualification
    • 75% of learners should get 50% or above in Pure Maths
    • A good English pass rate with at least 80% of learners
      obtaining above 50%
  • Applicants must be South African citizens
  • Please note that there are limited high school bursaries
    available
  • Meeting the minimum selection criteria does not imply that your
    application will be successful

May non South Africans apply for the bursary?

Unfortunately non South African students will not be eligible to apply for the bursary. Investec wishes to encourage and promote South Africans to further their studies and qualifications in the hope that they will contribute significantly to the economic development of the country and to fully participate in the broader South African society.

May I reapply for the bursary programme if I was previously unsuccessful?

Yes. You may reapply if your previous application was unsuccessful however, you will need to adhere to the minimum requirements specified in the section above. 

May I apply for any of the bursaries if I intend to do Maths Literacy?

Unfortunately, we only fund students who are doing pure maths. 

May I apply for the bursary if I am planning on schooling internationally?

Unfortunately, we do not fund international studies.

Am I allowed to change schools once I have been accepted for the bursary?

Unfortunately, once you have been accepted you are not allowed to change schools.

Do I have to reapply for the next Grade once I have been accepted?

No. You will be funded throughout High School.

Do I automatically qualify for the University Bursary after Grade 12?

High School Bursary Partner Organisations
Student Sponsorship Programme

Investec sponsors scholarships to study at top South African high schools to students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Each student is mentored by an Investec staff member and attend events to gain exposure to Investec and the workplace.

Theo Jackson Scholarship Fund

This fund provides scholarships at Jeppe High School for Boys to underprivileged and financially disadvantaged boys. They also assist the boys with extra lessons in English and Maths. Various events are hosted for these students to gain exposure to Investec and to experience the workplace.

SAILI Programme

Investec partners with Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrews in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, to provide good quality education to disadvantaged children with academic potential from the surrounding community.

Investec High School Bursary Programme

We awarded bursaries to 78 high school learners in grades 10-12 in 2023. In 2023, 48 learners on our high school bursary programme matriculated, producing 195 distinctions (average of 5.9 distinctions per learner)
