About me
I manage multi-asset portfolios and provide broader financial planning advice as part of our Wealth Planning service to a range of high net worth families, trusts and charities. Focusing on each client’s unique situation I assist with portfolio construction, asset allocation and investment management, as well as considering relevant holding structures and tax efficient solutions for working towards pre-agreed long term goals. With families, this can often include strategies for ensuring that assets pass effectively and tax efficiently between generations over time. The strategy that is agreed upon is kept under regular review and adapted as individual circumstances and the investment environment evolve.
Background/Experience
I am a Divisional Director of Investec Wealth & Investment and I lead a wider team of experienced wealth planners and their associated support staff. My City career began in 1996 when I joined Robert Fleming & Co as part of its graduate recruitment programme. I spent two years in the Far East securities business before moving to the private client stockbroking partnership of Dennis Murphy Campbell, which ultimately became part of Investec Wealth & Investment. I therefore have long experience of dealing with the types of challenges that my clients can face and working with them to establish the best approach for resolving them. I graduated with a BA (Hons.) in Politics from Durham University and hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, which is an internationally recognised qualification for investment professionals. I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (Chartered FCSI) and hold their Investment Advice Diploma in Financial Planning & Advice.
My interests
I live with my wife and two children near Bath and enjoy running, hill walking in Scotland and any gardening activities that can be undertaken with a chainsaw. I am a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Salters whose principal philanthropic activities are the promotion of science education and the relief of need.
