About me

I work closely with investment managers to pitch for business with existing and potential clients, and with colleagues in the Investment & Research Office to manage the firm’s discretionary fixed income mandates. I also provide commentary on fixed income markets and help with the selection of bond funds and individual credits, providing bespoke solutions and portfolio proposals to a wide range of clients.

Background/Experience

I began my career in 1986 as a bond salesman with Societe Generale Strauss Turnbull, spending nine years in their London office, and also spent a year in New York focusing on US pension funds and money managers. Following this I worked in similar roles at Mees Pierson and Merrill Lynch before joining Credit Suisse as a fixed income portfolio manager in 2002 with a focus on multicurrency bond portfolios, and had discretionary responsibility for all fixed income within the UK private bank. During this time I also helped develop and manage equity options overlay portfolios in sterling and US dollars, and from 2010 to 2014 was CIO for the UK and Channel Islands, working with the other regional CIOs to formulate investment strategy for Credit Suisse Asset Management.

I joined the Research Team of IW&I in May 2015 as a fixed income portfolio manager. I have an Honours degree in Business Studies from Portsmouth University, ICMA (formerly AIBD) General Certificate and am a CFA Charterholder.

My entire career has been focused on the bond market, on both sides of the divide, as a salesman covering institutional clients and latterly as a portfolio manager investing money for clients. This has given me a broad insight into how fixed income as an asset class can help our clients achieve their investment goals.

I am a keen cyclist and enjoy both road and mountain biking.
