Weathering the cost of a volatile climate with Aon insurance

You need to protect your home and business against increasingly volatile weather conditions.

We are exposed to increasingly volatile weather conditions, with record-setting episodes of extreme temperatures, rainfall and flooding, droughts and wildfires, tropical cyclones and late-season severe storms.

A weather event like this could be financially crippling if you’re under-insured, especially if you need to replace your household contents, the infrastructure of your business or even motor vehicles.

For example, if you insured your household contents for R250 000, but the replacement value is double that amount, it leaves you 50% under-insured. This means that you may need to pay 50% of the claim, ie R125 000.

For this reason, you need to protect your home and business against these events.

More knowledge, better decisions

If you’re better informed, you can make better decisions about your insurance cover. As the insurance broking partner to Investec Private Banking, Aon uses their global knowledge, data, analytics, and expertise to ensure you can make informed decisions.

Protect your assets against extreme weather

You can save sensibly on insurance premiums - here are a few tips:
  • Evaluate your risk accurately and exclude certain items from your cover that are replaceable or not likely to be damaged, lost, or stolen
  • Insure your property accurately for the cost to replace it at today’s prices
  • Consider a bigger affordable excess, which will reduce your premium
  • Consolidate your household and motor insurance with one insurer. It reduces your premium and saves on debit order fees and policy administration charges
  • Inform your broker of any changes or improvements to your home – it could impact the insured value
  • Always adequately insure big items, such as your motor vehicles.
