Case study: Helping a CEO with their UK personal finances, from scratch

The challenge

A C-Suite executive recently approached Investec when she returned to the UK to spend more time with her family, following a post as CEO for an international energy company. The client needed a private bank that could cater for her day-to-day transactions and foreign exchange needs, as well as providing a mortgage and offshore banking capabilities in a joined-up way.

With a clear understanding of the client’s long-term aspirations, we were able to provide a tailored service that was curated and managed by a Private Banker.

Day-to-day transactional banking

First, we set up a bank account for UK transactions, as well as a Currency Access account which can hold up to 15 currencies simultaneously and be managed online through one interface.

Efficient Foreign Exchange

A dedicated Foreign Exchange Dealer then worked with the client to identify when conversion to sterling was required and monitor markets to execute transactions when agreed rates were met.

A bespoke mortgage

As we work with a number of corporate professionals, we understood the client’s income consisted of a salary, bonus and some share exposure, which enabled us to offer a high LTV mortgage on a six-bedroom family home. As our client wanted to keep her existing home as an investment property, we were also able to re-mortgage this asset as a buy-to-let property.
