About me
My priority is to help my clients achieve their financial goals. I am responsible for managing their investment portfolios in a way which best meets their objectives, be it helping them grow their assets, generate an income or anything in between. These portfolios include ISA's, general investment accounts, personal pensions and other tax friendly vehicles, such as trusts and charities. I also sit on the Edinburgh Management Committee and lead one of the Edinburgh investment teams.
Background/Experience
I started my professional investment career in London, working as an assistant fund manager at stockbroker Capel-Cure Myers. From there, I moved into institutional sales with NatWest Securities specialising in UK smaller companies, before returning to Edinburgh in 1999 to become a private client investment manager at Capel Cure Sharp, which later became Gerrard/Barclays Wealth. I then helped set up an Edinburgh office for Williams De broe, which was acquired by Investec in 2008. Over the years, I have sat on the firm's Sector Strategy and Investment Process Committees. I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and an Associate of the Society of Investment professionals (ASIP). My qualifications, along with my experience in different parts of the investment world, gives me confidence in my investment decisions to help clients achieve their financial goals.
My interests
I enjoy getting out into the Scottish mountains (inadvertently becoming a 'Munro bagger'), skiing, mountain biking, golf and generally keeping fit. I also love adventure which recently saw me race a yacht nearly 6,000 miles across The Southern Ocean from Cape Town to Perth in Australia.
