Investec is sad to announce that Errol Grolman, one of the company’s three original founders, passed away over the weekend.

Errol, along with Ian Kantor and Larry Nestadt, in 1976 created the leasing company that became Investec. Errol helped drive the early growth of the business and played an important role in its strategic direction, through the acquisition of a banking license in 1980 and Investec’s listing on the JSE in 1986. He left the company in the late 1980s, though what always remained were the examples Errol set in tenacity, meticulousness, commerciality, integrity and total decency as a colleague and a human being.

In later years, Errol relocated to San Diego, where he made his home and his investment business.

Investec sends his family deepest condolences at this very difficult time.
