Investec Bank plc (Investec), a leading international financial services provider, today announces two new senior hires to support the launch of its new dedicated electronic equity trading desk as part of the next phase in the expansion of its global trading offering.
The desk, headed by new hire Dominic Lowres who joins Investec alongside Matthew West, will provide clients access to a new, global electronic execution channel, designed to meet growing client demand for electronic trading solutions.
This development further enables clients to execute low-touch equity trades across multiple global trading locations utilising Investec’s wide range of external exchange memberships and direct venue connections, as well as its own internal liquidity pools.
This new desk complements Investec’s existing high-touch trading solutions as clients will now benefit from its bespoke trading consultancy across both high and low-touch solutions, cementing Investec’s role as a global trading partner for its growing global client base. The desk will also cater to the increasing percentage of digital wallets resulting from the continued growth of passive investments.
It is part of a growing team offering global equity market coverage through core operations across Europe, India and South Africa.
Dominic Lowres, Head of Electronic Trading and Execution Strategy, commented:
“We are delighted to announce this important new stage in the growth of Investec’s client-centric equity franchise. Clients are constantly looking at how they can improve execution quality, maximise access to liquidity, reduce their trading costs and ensure “best execution” with partners who can intelligently navigate and innovate in the electronic trading landscape to provide the speed and service they require.”
Clive Murray, Head of Equities, added: “Our approach to trading has always been to put our clients first. One of the services we’ll offer all our clients as part of our overall trading solutions is bespoke trading consultancy, where we leverage our deep insight into the equities market and advise clients on their ideal approach to market access in a unique way. We believe that it’s this highly personalised service that differentiates us from the market and provides real long-term value to clients on a global scale.”

In his role as Head of Electronic Trading at Investec, he leads a team with over 20 years’ experience in building dedicated low-latency trading platforms at leading financial organisations, globally.
