Investec strengthens M&A offering with Head of UK Advisory appointment
Investec Bank plc (‘Investec’ or ‘the Bank’), a leading international financial services provider, has today announced the appointment of Luke Spells as Head of UK Advisory, bolstering its M&A offering. Luke joins from Citi where he was a Managing Director in the UK Investment Banking team and led the coverage of UK Mid-Cap companies.
In this role, Luke will be critically involved in the sourcing and execution of transactions on a pan-sector basis, enhancing our client relationships, and delivering Investec’s full advisory capabilities to both public and private companies. He brings significant expertise and experience to the Investec platform having spent over 20 years advising clients on a variety of public and private M&A, strategic advisory, and financing related transactions.
Jonathan Arrowsmith, Head of Investment Banking, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Luke as Head of UK Advisory. Luke’s expertise will help further accelerate our advisory strength and capabilities across listed companies and with private equity. Bringing in senior, experienced experts like Luke further improves our coverage in the mid-market sector at a time when we see increased activity within M&A and encouraging signs of a gradual opening of the IPO market.”
Luke Spells, Head of UK Advisory added: “I am excited to be joining the firm, contributing to its further growth, and working with Investec’s fully integrated team of specialists across the Advisory, Corporate Broking and broader ECM and lending businesses, to offer a differentiated and market-leading service to our clients.”
The appointment follows Investec’s recent role in advising on high profile transactions including the admission to trading on AIM of Rosebank Industries and the take-private of Alpha Financial Markets Consulting by Bridgepoint.
Investec’s standing in the UK market has also been recognised through industry-leading rankings and awards including Best Performing UK Bank 2024 (The Banker) and was ranked #1 UK Small & MidCap broker in this year’s Extel survey by Institutional Investor Research (IIR), with eight research sectors achieving #1 ranking for a second year in a row.
