Investec announces further expansion of Fund Solutions team in North America

Investec, a leading international financial services firm, announces the appointment of Richard de Villiers as Senior Originator within its Global Fund Solutions team in New York. Richard joins recent hires Sharon Thandi and Matthew (Matt) Wilbur as Investec continues to build out and strengthen its dedicated hub in the U.S. to support a growing international client base.

The announcement underscores Investec’s commitment to expanding its presence and capabilities globally, with the newly enlarged Fund Solutions team now consisting of 40 professionals located in the UK, Europe, South Africa, and the U.S. This team is dedicated to meeting increasing client demand specifically within the U.S. private equity fund finance sector and follows Investec Fund Solutions’ recent partnership with Ares Management to enhance its lending capacity.

Richard will focus on delivering bespoke fund solutions, supporting private equity, venture capital, and credit managers across North America. His extensive experience in structuring capital call facilities, NAV-based lending, GP support facilities, and hybrid solutions will be vital in addressing both fund-level and partner-level needs.

Sharon and Matt joined the U.S. team in November 2024. Sharon Thandi joined Investec’s Fund Solutions team in the UK. Prior to that, she spent 10 years at Lloyds Banking Group, where she worked across fund financing and financial sponsors coverage.

Matt Wilbur joined from Bridge Bank in the U.S., where he worked as a portfolio manager within its Fund Finance business, responsible for originating and managing a diverse portfolio of private equity funds across the Technology, Private Credit, and Infrastructure sectors.

In addition to these appointments, Investec has also welcomed Jonathan Saxon as Head of Distribution for North America. Jonathan will be responsible for connecting institutional clients with international opportunities from across the Investec network, particularly within its equities business.
