An Actis-led consortium acquires a majority stake in Telkom’s towerco business (Swiftnet)

Our role
Investec acted as lead-arranger and funder for an Actis-led consortium which has acquired Swiftnet, a leading South African tower platform.
The Actis consortium has acquired Swiftnet in a transaction that values the business at R6.75bn. Following the transaction, the consortium of equity investors led by Actis, now holds a majority stake in Swiftnet, partnering with Royal Bafokeng Holdings who holds the balance of the shareholding. Actis sees long-term value in the Swiftnet opportunity and is looking to establish the business as the leading independent towerco in South Africa.
