Investec responds to growing US demand for fund finance

Regional client hub expanded to support growing international client base.

Investec Bank plc (Investec), a leading international financial services provider, today announces two new hires in its global Fund Solutions team, as it continues to build out and strengthen its dedicated hub in the US to support a growing international client base. Sharon Thandi and Matthew (Matt) Wilbur join the team to originate business for the Fund Solutions team from Investec’s New York offices.

The announcement underscores Investec’s commitment to expanding its presence and capabilities globally, with the newly enlarged Fund Solutions team now consisting of 40 people located in the UK, Europe, South Africa and US, dedicated to helping meet increasing client demand specifically within the US private equity fund finance sector. It also comes following the recent announcement that Investec Fund Solutions has partnered with Ares Management to expand its subscription facilities lending capacity.

Investec Fund Solutions provides globally innovative funding solutions to closed-end private capital funds and fund managers throughout the life cycle of their funds, bringing a wealth of experience in accessing both banking and institutional capital to fulfil clients funding needs. These solutions include a more diversified offering and a broader product set than private equity sponsors typically have access to.

Sharon Thandi joins the US office after spending two years with the Investec Fund Solutions team in the UK. Prior to that, she spent 10 years at Lloyds Banking Group, where she worked across fund financing and financial sponsors coverage.

Matt Wilbur joins from Bridge Bank in the US, where he worked as a portfolio manager within its Fund Finance business, responsible for originating and managing a diverse portfolio of Private Equity Funds across the Technology, Private Credit, and Infrastructure sectors.

Grant Crosby, Head of Fund Solutions at Investec, said: “We offer unique solutions to the US marketplace and see significant growth potential in this important region. Sharon and Matt’s appointments build on our achievements in the US and further evidences our commitment to strengthening our existing Fund Solutions platform globally and helping funds seize opportunities, deliver returns and generate value. Our strategy enables us to service the mid-market in a way that is both holistic and comprehensive with a truly global team that appreciates the diversity of client funding needs.”

Sharon Thandi, US Origination and Relationship Management at Investec, said: “I am excited to leverage Investec’s global reach and expertise to best service existing and new clients, bringing Investec’s client-centric approach, broad product range and our innovative and flexible financing solutions to even more clients in the region.”

Matt Wilbur, US Origination and Relationship Management at Investec, added: “Investec’s Fund Solutions team is growing rapidly across the globe, and I am looking forward to being able to offer our mid-market clients a wide range of tailored solutions across multiple sectors from our new dedicated US hub.”
