Investec funds Sustainable Power Solutions (SPS)'s 5MW Slimsun Too Phase 2 solar project
Our role
Investec provided funding to SPS Group for the construction and operation of the Slimsun Too Phase 2 solar photovoltaic (PV) facility.
The project comprises a 5MW solar PV installation located on Farm Eenboom in the Malmesbury district, adjacent to the existing Slimsun Too Phase 1 project. The facility will connect to the Eskom Eenboom substation situated on site. Electricity generated by the project will be sold to Energy Exchange under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) on a wheeled basis.
The project is currently under construction and is expected to reach completion in Q3 of 2026.
The transaction advances Sustainable Development Goal 7 (affordable and clean energy) and Goal 13 (climate action) by expanding utility-scale renewable energy capacity and accelerating the decarbonisation of South Africa’s energy system.
This transaction was executed through close collaboration with our Treasury Sales and Structuring team.
