Investec provided ZAR100m of senior debt facility for the development of Mettle Solar’s Rooftop PV Portfolio. The assets are located in South Africa & Namibia. Mettle Solar develops, finances, installs, operates and maintains commercial rooftop solar photovoltaic systems.

Investec was part of the consortium of investors, whilst also providing debt funding for Kathu Solar Park, a 100 MW greenfield Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project in South Africa. The project was completed in January 2019 and will supply an estimated 179 000 households with renewable energy, saving six million tonnes of CO2 emissions over a 20-year-period.

Cahora Bassa Hydro Power Plant

Cahora Bassa Hydro Power Plant

Our team participated in the refinancing of the 2 000 MW Cahora Bassa hydro power plant in Mozambique. As a result of the transaction, the government of Mozambique increased its shareholding to 85%. Cahora Bassa has been fully refurbished and the project is underpinned by a long-term PPA with South Africa’s ESKOM.
