Our role

Investec acted as mandated lead arranger, senior lender and hedge provider in structuring a fit-for-purpose funding package to Serengeti Energy.

The funding will be used to refinance and upgrade the 3MW Sol Plaatje and 4MW Merino hydro power plants, as well as to construct the 5MW Boston hydro power plant.

The projects are located on the Ash River in the Free State and have private power purchase agreements to deliver green energy through wheeling on the national electricity network.

Investec's Energy and Infrastuture Finance team worked closely with our Treasury Sales and Structuring and Business Transactional Banking teams as part of the transaction.
