Welspun acquires Sintex-BAPL
Investec advised Sintex-BAPL on its sale to Welspun

Investec India is proud to share that we were Advisors to the Patel Family on evaluation of monetisation options for Sintex Water Tanks. Through the NCLT process Welspun group acquired Sintex-BAPL. The acquisition was completed by the consortium of Propel Plastic Products Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Welspun Corp Limited (“WCL”) and Plastauto Private Limited, a related party of WCL. Following the execution of the deal, both the unlisted Welspun companies will be merged into Sintex-BAPL.
Investec's role:
- Investec marketed the opportunity to numerous PE funds and handheld the company through the entire restructuring and resolution process.
- This transaction marks Investec’s second transaction with the Sintex Group. Investec had earlier advised Sintex on its divestment of Sintex NP (france based subsidiary) to a consortium of investors led by Siparex in Oct-2019.
About Sintex-BAPL:
Sintex-BAPL uses plastic as a medium to provide innovative solutions for building material products (water tanks, interiors & institutional products), automotive plastic moulded parts and fuel tanks. It has established a process for integrating the design, engineering & manufacturing through which knowledge acquired in different platforms are deployed across the manufacturing locations.
The acquisition aligns with Welspun's strategic roadmap to expand their business into the Building Materials industry.
