I am the Head of Equities at Investec. The equities cluster provides execution, advisory, financing and risk management solutions to the institutional and corporate client base. I have 19 years’ experience in financial markets across equity sales, trading and as a hedge fund manager. I joined Investec in 2016 as Head of Institutional Equities. Prior to joining Investec, I was a director and Head of South African Equity Sales at Merrill Lynch where I ran the number one ranked sales team. I also briefly ran a market neutral hedge fund at Fairtree Capital.

Philip Thuthuka Dube

Head: Equity finance

I head a team that aims to issue and sell retail and wholesale equity products to a full spectrum of client types. Our focus is Delta-One derivatives traded both on exchange and Over-the-Counter (OTC). The product suite includes Single Stock Futures (SSF), Contract-For-Difference (CFDs), International Futures (IDX), Warrants, ETNs and Total Return Swaps. We distribute our offering through multiple sales channels with a target market that comprises of retail intermediaries, hedge funds and investment banks. As a market maker and product issuer client interaction and full understanding of our clients' needs is an integral part of our business as this allows for structured, intelligent and innovative solutions.

Nkateko Mathonsi

Head of research; Equity analyst: SA mining

I am an equity analyst covering the SA mining stocks and the Head of Research at Investec Securities.

I joined Investec in 2016 as an Equity Research Analyst. Prior to joining Investec, I worked as a chemical engineer at Impala Platinum for eight years – the last six of which I managed a nickel plant operation.

Andries Potgieter

Head: Electronic execution services trading desk

I head the electronic trading desk within the equities cluster. We deliver innovative solutions to our clients in the trade execution space. Our main objective is to empower clients to be in control of their trade execution and maximise the value gained through effective trading strategies. We service institutional clients across the globe, offering direct market access, latency sensitive trading, algorithmic trading, specialised execution, programme trading, customisation and execution consultancy.

James Lee

Head: Prime services

I head up Prime Services, which provides a bundle of high-quality investment activities for institutional hedge funds and similar clients, allowing them to focus on investment goals and strategy. These services include cash management, securities lending, trade execution, local and global custody, settlement, clearing and regulatory reporting solutions.

I have worked at Investec since 2010 in multiple capacities within the equities cluster, ranging from technology, operations and specialist projects.
Prior to Joining Investec, I spent four years in the telecommunications industry in both technical and business capacities globally.

Rithen Ramlal

Head: Equity derivatives

I work in Equity Derivatives at Investec. I’ve been at Investec since 2013, having started as an Equity Derivatives Trader. I have 17 years of experience spread across the corporate and private sectors, from investment banking, trading, and sales to portfolio management. I was previously the Head of Equity Derivatives for UBS South Africa.
